Sharyn Joy Kerns died peacefully in WellStar Kennestone Hospital on 17 November 2015 in Kennesaw, Ga., at the age of 65.

Joy is survived by her husband Terry Madison Kerns, three children, Robert and wife Regan(Garner, N.C.), Colin and wife Melissa(Smyrna, Ga.) and Ronnie and wife Karen(Sulphur Springs, Texas) as well as seven grandchildren Jessie, Derek, Sabrina, Darin, William, Chloe and Lane.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother Russel and Elizabeth Baggeson of Irving, Texas.

Joy was born in 1950 in Libertyville, Ill., to Russel and Elizabeth. In the mid 1950’s Joy moved to Texas. For the rest of her life she considered herself a lifelong Texan. She began working for Tandem Computers in 1980. She proudly worked for Tandem as a logistician for 20 years and then for Sun/Oracle for the remainder of her life.

Joy was an accomplished flautist and played in several community type Bands over the years. Another passion of hers that she shared with her husband was gardening. For the past 20 years she grew an assortment of fruits and vegetables that she shared with friends and neighbors. She also enjoy saltwater fishing.

She will be remembered for her love of travel, grandchildren, a glass of wine and unyieldingly loving her husband of 20 years.

A viewing is scheduled 21 November from 2 to 5 p.m. and funeral is Sunday, 22 November at 3:00 P.M., both at the South Canton Funeral Home, with a reception to follow on site. Reverend Jim Garrett Jr. will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Joy’s life.
