Jewell Victoria Payne, age 97, of Canton and a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016.

Mrs. Payne was born on April 18th, 1918 in Woodstock, Georgia. She spent the majority of her life in the Woodstock-Canton locale and was known and loved by many neighbors, church associates, and friends. Just as she was an important member of her community, she was an integral part of her family. She will be remembered for her graciousness, independence, and enduring love of God and all His people. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Serenity Mountain Manor Assisted Living Facility and Compassus Hospice for the extensive patience, kindness, and love they showed Mrs. Payne.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, from the Chapel of South Canton Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Carnes, and Rev. Ken May officiating. Interment will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at South Canton Funeral Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Walter P. Payne, as well as three brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her sister, Lessie Mcarthur of Canton; her son Jon Payne, daughter-in-law Geneine Payne, and granddaughter Katie Payne of Canton.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice, antioch Christian Church, or Rock Springs Baptist Church.
